A short spa wellness break or a holiday in Auvergne at Aïga residence – whether alone, as a couple or with the family

The thermal waters of Auvergne have a long history, particularly in Châtel-Guyon, where at the beginning of the 20th century there were 28 thermal springs in use, characterised by their high magnesium content.

This water, or “aqua” in Latin, became known as Aïga in Occitan – a local language spoken in Auvergne – and it is this strong symbol intrinsically linked with the town that is now the emblem of the new thermal resort.

THE ORIGIN OF CHÂTEL-GUYON THERMAL SPRING WATER: A LONG JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE OF THE EARTH

The water of Châtel-Guyon bubbles up in the heart of the spa town, after having infiltrated the ground to depths of more than 3,500 metres. It flows slowly through the rich sedimentary subsoil of the Limagne plain, formed 25 million years ago. It also comes into contact with siliceous volcanic rock, from which Châtel-Guyon water acquires its exceptional mineral content.

THE EFFECTS OF A UNIQUE NATURAL SOURCE

On the digestive system

The treatments have a clear effect on colonic motility, thanks to the richness of the waters in magnesium and trace elements. We have also demonstrated:
• an anti-inflammatory action on the intestinal mucosa
• a healing action on the intestinal barrier
• a regulatory action on intestinal transit (constipation, diarrhoea, alternation of the two)

On rheumatological conditions

The exceptional silicon content of the waters contributes to the effectiveness of the rheumatology treatment. Silicon is an essential constituent of cartilage:
• It solubilises microcrystals
• It regulates calcification processes in inflammatory rheumatism

In general

Thanks to its richness in minerals and trace elements, particularly magnesium and lithium, drinking the water helps to:
• regulate the autonomic nervous system
• provide a de-stressing effect
• reduce muscle cramps and spasms
• improve immune defences
• provide a tonic effect on general health
